Today was a challenge, a bodyweight only day. Easy huh? There are a lot of trainers that believe that a person cannot and should not start a resistance program without being able to move and stabilize their own bodyweight through space. I agree. When I start training a client, I make sure we work on stability and proprioception first. This enables more muscles to be brought into the "mind-muscle" connection to be used later on when the coordination is fully developed.
It also helps older trainees to break plateaus. You would be amazed at how dips in gymnastic rings will help your weighted dips.
Try some stuff on your own, pushups, dips between a chair, handstand walking, and get dressed on one leg. Better yet, do KB swings on one leg, one legged squats. Sometimes I feel like that guy from Forest Gump....shrimp and taters, shrimp pasta.....
