Its been a very busy week. Ive been sick, traveled to California and back to a National Meeting for the company I work with. I haven't had what most people consider a workout in 2 weeks.
I on the other hand, know the difference.
Wednesday, I worked ROM functionality on all my limbs while tending to a very sick 70 year old grandmother and her husband who diligently took care of her for years.
Today, before I walked down to the dinner, I walked into the hotel gym and performed max pull ups followed by max dips followed by more pull ups.
I did 21 pull ups, 20-30 dips, (i lost count) then max pull ups again. I was so pumped and out of breath I actually had to pause to catch it.
I understand that my fitness level has dropped in 2 weeks, and that is about the right time detraining takes place. A few years ago, I would have just said screw it, I missed a few workouts, I will start on Monday.
Now I know that you can make a workout of anything. You just have to take the old mindset you have and throw it the f%$% out the window.
Im serious, with that old mentality of all or nothing, you will dig your own fitness grave.
Think long term, thing consecutive workouts that add up to something.
Just rethink your way of fitness. It doesnt have to fit into the cookie cutter model all the magazines say it does. Think for yourself now! Dammit people, I am screaming at you.
I am screaming at people that cant go on a simple walk.
I am screaming at people that think they need a gym membership to get fit.
I am screaming at all of those of you, like me, for so long had dysmorphia and could not bear the idea of gaining a pound when time did not allow you to get into the gym.
Stop it. Start today and get off your ass and do something, do anything!
Do it for the ones you love, do it for yourself.
Do it before you die, and eventually you will. Accept it, and move on.
Be healthy, be fit, most of all, just be.
Before its too late.
